Lisa King is a self-taught emerging artist based in Adelaide, South Australia. Her imaginative and stylish portraiture crosses mediums – oil, acrylic, aerosol and computer generated imagery. She has been recognised locally and internationally as a acclaimed painter and street artist.
She works primarily on figurative based portraiture and fashion illustration with her influences coming from up-beat fashion trends and indie / pop culture. Her work has been labeled ‘colorfully angelic yet seemingly dark.’
Lisa’s career as an artist and illustrator started in 2012 when she decided to swap graphic design to the more creative world of illustration and mural work. Since then she has been in multiple group shows and this will be her first solo show.
Lisa’s recent focus is on larger scale creations with a primary pull towards street art and mural work. She is a full-time studio artist experimenting heavily with different mediums and surfaces.
Her most recent body of work “Riot of Orchids” comes from the last 6 months of exploration in her studio. Fashion illustration and large scale oil paintings created with a nostalgic taste of the 80’s. Fashion and pop culture driven, her new figurative works will sit in a world of unusual and unconventional movement. Her lavish display of pink retro pop cult extravaganza will be sure to excite.
