‘Ad Homonem’ is a photographic series that surreally depicts the artist’s experiences as a queer person of colour. Conceiving still-life and portraiture imagery loaded with symbolism and pop-culture references, David Thai explores quirks of the gay dating scene while bringing to light the toxicity pervasive within the queer community. Each image presents an internal dialogue in which he questions these cultural norms while pondering on his own identity.

This series is an unapologetic and proud celebration of Thai’s identity as a gay man, a love letter to his community and an acknowledgement that “we are not without our flaws”.
