Dance of the Shadows embodies the exploration of dancing in tandem to the shadows of ones self, embracing both the dark and the light
for without one there is no other.
Kate has worked with the medium of dance in the initial mark making stage to create many of these works, moving freely on the canvas allowing her energy to be freely transmitted into lines without any expectation or pressure. Kate’s main focus throughout has been to work intuitively in the moment.
Letting her hand and body be the guide of where each piece will go, embracing the fear of the unknown, learning to deeply trust her intuition to create an authentic and vibrant collection of works.
This collection of work is a celebration of the evolution of Kates practice of the past 3 years. Swimming in bright colours, abstract figures that bounce between falling and dancing, intertwined and entangled around the canvas, as well as Kate’s Signature line work. Kate invites you to dive into a little slice of her internal world.

Kate, originally from the UK, studied a BA in Fine art at Winchester school of art, specialising in sculpture and installation. During this time she spent one year studying in Milan, learning traditional painting skills and contemporary video art, graduating in 2015.
Kate moved to Melbourne in January 2018 to pursue
her dream of being an artist, she has since exhibited in Several shows in Melbourne as well as curating her first show “seedbed of self discovery” and MARFA gallery in 2020.
She had her Debut Solo sellout show in March 2021 at Saint Cloche gallery in Sydney, since then kate had been working full time as an artist, from her studio on Gubbi Gubbi country, Hinterland Noosa.
Kates signature line work style, originated from her passion for free machine embroidery at school, she fell in love with the lack of control over the sewing machine, “It gives you no time to think, only to do what feels right in the moment”. This is an ethos that Kate carries throughout her practice today.
