Mosaic Association of Australia & New Zealand

13 - 24 December

MAANZ ( Mosaic Association of Australia and New Zealand) is a community of mosaic artists and enthusiasts with over 850 members across Australia and New Zealand.

This group exhibition showcases the work of predominantly Victorian mosaic artists but also includes some entries from NSW.

 Fragmentation

For this exhibition mosaic artists were asked to respond to the concept of fragmentation- examples suggested including exploring representing a fragment of life in mosaic format, considering using fragments other than the traditional materials of glass and marble or reflecting on the fragmentation of life during the pandemic.

Mosaic making itself is fragmentation as a process with the breaking and assemblage of pieces. In using innovative materials and current concepts an ancient technique is brought to a modern context.
