“Take the pictures you find here, and use them as places to begin your journey into stories. Wonder about them, wander through them. Let them hold your hand and whisper to you… Let them bring you into stories and make magic.” —Neil Gaiman
Explore 52 exquisite new worlds by illustrator Elise Hurst, as she launches her new book THE STORYTELLER’S HANDBOOK. In an interactive approach to storytelling, each image exists to draw a unique narrative from the viewer.
Delve beneath oceans, soar through the sky and discover the strangeness of all places in between. Created in pen and ink, with watercolour accents, these timeless and beautiful scenes are for all ages.
Elise Hurst is an award-winning artist and illustrator, whose work is in collections around the globe. Her recent work includes the fully immersive illustrations for The Ocean at the End of the Lane, written by Neil Gaiman, and Gaiman here returns with a foreword fable created for the book.
Complemented with selected oil paintings, visitors will be encouraged to explore the worlds of the book and contribute their own narrative ideas.
All works will be for sale, including original illustrations, limited edition prints, oil paintings and signed copies of the book.
Book launch will be held on Thursday 24th November 6-8pm at the gallery.
