Now in it’s 10th year of Australia's leading queer art prize, No Vacancy is proud to host the Midsumma and Australia Post Art Award (MAPAA).
Since its inauguration in 2016 MAPAA has quickly established itself as an important award in the ecology of the arts. With finalists selected from across the country, the non-acquisitive annual award is a survey of outstanding queer artists working across mediums reflecting their potent personal and political perspectives on the world.
The art award is open nation-wide to artists in any medium. Finalists' work will be exhibited as part of the subsequent Midsumma Festival at the wonderful No Vacancy Gallery. The winners will share in a prize pool of $7k and an artistic development opportunity at Bundoora Homestead Art Centre. Audiences who visit the exhibition will have the chance to cast their vote for the People's Choice Award.
