Sally Darlison
Sally Darlison is a multidisciplinary artist working with collage, drawing, painting, maps, stitch, textiles and print to create artwork in several formats, including artist books and framed works. Her work explores place, the journey to and from, and our relationship with it. Sally particularly enjoys exploring new places observing both the natural and the built environment. She collects ideas on her journeys using various methods, such as sketching, photography, video, maps, interviews, samples, and brochures, which are then used as inspiration or included in the completed later works. Sally uses various media combining fabric, photos, maps, text, and various printmaking techniques, using machine and hand stitching to draw, bind and link. Sally has held seven solo exhibitions and participated in many group exhibitions. She has completed many commissions both nationally and internationally. Sally has been a practising artist for around 30 years and a full-time artist for the past 2 1/2 years after working as an Art teacher in schools and tertiary education for over 28 years.
