Past | Locker Room Talk
28 March - 3 April 2022
Locker Room Talk is a contemporary art exhibition and event series that aims to bring together inspiring women and non-binary creatives, sparking meaningful conversation in a positive space.
Kate Pullen and Louise Brough are the pair behind Locker Room Talk, and the show will feature the work of 36 artists. The project began as a response to the pressures they have felt as women – in work and life – paired with a desire to celebrate some of the incredible artists they admire.
Friday Night Celebrations
Friday 1 April
Our version of an opening night! Everyone is invited to come and celebrate from 6 pm. Absorb the show, pick up some cute merch, scrawl a positive message in the Who Gives A Crap toilet stall, and grab one of the limited number of free espresso martinis, care of Minor Figures.
Creative Panel Discussion
Wednesday 30 March
A panel discussion featuring women from a variety of different creative backgrounds will take place on Wednesday 30 March. Aimee Carruthers, Ashley Ronning, Katarina Matic, Rachel Worcou and Jes Harris have each carved very different paths during their careers and they bring with them a variety of experiences. The conversation will tackle practical topics like building your own community and confidently talking about money, as well as those a little harder to define, like how do we manage a job that is so intrinsically linked to our sense of self. Following the discussion the audience will be given the opportunity to put forward their own questions.
Craft with Kitiya Palaskas
Tuesday 29 March
Accompanying the free exhibition will be three events. On Tuesday 29 March craft-based designer and author Kitiya Palaskas shows us how art can be used to raise awareness of political and social issues by helping you create your very own unique poster or flag, in a hands-on workshop. Kitiya has worked with the ABC, Go-To Skincare and The Washington Post. Kitiya’s workshop will give participants the opportunity to connect with others, learn from an industry leader, and utilise a range of tools to craft a personal and original piece of art.
