Pelan Pelan is a body of work that employs the physicality and language of paint to put memories and experiences, past and present, in conversation with each other in a co-creation of the current moment. Images draw from Mythra’s complex relationship with place, from her upbringing in Bali, Indonesia, to her present home in Melbourne. From shared moments of intimacy, a new sense of community and belonging is formed. Through iterations and interpretations, Mythra explores what representational painting can be in the contemporary era, perhaps a means of slowing the mind, pelan pelan, in the dance between figuration and abstraction.

Closing celebration 5th May, 6-9pm. All welcome.
