‘Raw, intimate, hilarious, heartfelt.’

As a part of Melbourne Fringe Festival, Pink Lake Productions presents COCOON after two successful seasons at the Adelaide Fringe festival and a sold-out show at the Wynnum Fringe Festival.

Written and directed by New York City playwright Kotryna Gesait, COCOON is a queer-friendly play challenging preconceived notions on sex, gender identity and romance.

Four love stories, six actors, COCOON poignantly portrays the universal theme of love that we all at some point experience regardless of gender, sexual orientation or even sometimes, reciprocation.

‘It uncovers the hardships and joys of love in all its stages. It’s split into four sections with four different but closely linked relationships – showing first dates and fights, marriage and planning for the future, all linked by references to past lives and reincarnation. This variation makes the play so much more than your typical love story. …..The Cocoon’ is a touching piece of fringe theatre that does what all good theatre should do: connect with others and share experiences from the bottom of the heart.’ - Theatre Haus

★★★★★ "For me, this show is a profoundly moving experience, compelling me to recall love affairs, to conjure feelings forgotten... The players invite a little playful interaction and this breaks down the fourth wall barrier fast, facilitating emotional involvement." - The Barefoot Review

Tickets on sale now at Melbourne Fringe Festival. Showing at No Vacancy gallery on 13, 14, 15 October 2022 6:00pm.
