Join us to celebrate the practices of three Melbourne artists in whose work, set side by side, we can explore the balancing act that is art, that is life.

Nadia Düsselberg is a mixed media contemporary artist, based in Melbourne. Artistic expression runs deep in the Düsselberg family, as Nadia’s parents are both award winning sculptors. Nadia’s work is rarely conceptualised before creating; rather it has a more organic, intuitive approach. Each piece is conceived from moment to moment, driven by joy, led by the heart. She forces the audience to reconsider their engagement towards art, offering a ‘felt’ experience, not just a visual feast. She intentionally uses feeling and energy to create, so you can’t help but experience the works in this way; making the artwork a multisensory experience.

Sharon Monagle is a visual artist from Melbourne, best known for her portraits and abstract expressionist style. Working predominantly with acrylic paint, she also likes to experiment with oils, pastels, ink and collage. A medical practitioner, Sharon finds painting provides her the balance she needs to manage the demands of her work. She describes how art helps her to better understand the human experience: how we relate to each other, to our environment and to our selves.

Debbie Weinmann is a ceramic artist living and working from her studio in Prahran Victoria. With a professional background in Occupational Therapy, she went on to graduate from Holmesglen TAFE in 2014 with a Diploma in Ceramics. Debbie expresses a sense of grounding when working with clay and the pure enjoyment of creation using a natural material which has no limits.
Often working in series or groupings, she explores the relationships of various forms when placed together, creating small “families" and a sense of belonging. Her handmade pieces transition seamlessly between decorative and functional, and Debbie takes particular joy in knowing collectors find a unique place within their home for her works.
