BODIES is the debut exhibition of Melbourne based artist, Bruce Summers. The exhibition features a collection of works based on aerial perspectives of coastal and inland bodies of water found throughout and surrounding Australia.

Water is an element that plays a significant role in the lives of all humans, especially Australians. Not only a vital resource, bodies of water, whether seen as a space to play and gather or a place of solace, are something we are inertly drawn to. Calm or torrid, one feels a sense of connection and fascination with large volumes of water which is like nothing else.

It is this unique presence of water in our lives that has led Summers to the exploration of oceans and lakes around Australia. The artist intends to draw attention to this valuable natural resource and encourage people to realise the beauty in our environment, in particular, the diversity of colour, texture and form in our waterscapes.

10% of all proceeds from this exhibition will be donated to Animals Australia to provide immediate support to expert wildlife vets to travel to fire-devastated areas. They’ll help any surviving animals, and provide much needed support and resources to local wildlife carers.
